Nozstock’s original dance arena is a former bull pen and working milking parlour. It was converted long ago into an intimate space to be enjoyed by musicians and music lovers. Now the room serves as a cocoon to the dance world as the walls shake with the reverberations of dirty bass beats and vibrant party rhythms. Take a detour into this old barn for a dance-lite distraction and keep an eye on this area in the day time… we might make DJs of you yet.
On an endless pilgrimage into the vast spectrum of sound, many a ‘Stocker will be seen bouncing to the darkest beats thanks to the magical hands of some super-skilled DJs.
IN 2011 THE FOLLOWING ACTS WOWED AT NOZSTOCK:
Sika Studios
:are returning to Nozstock, this time bringing you their Hip Hop Squat, complete with giant TV stage, and sounds from the UK hip hop scene and other underground music! By day this graffiti workshop, with a chance for everyone to get their hands on a spray can, will give all ages the chance to get creative and express themselves. By night, enjoy Sika’s dynamic programming as they bring you DJs spanning every urban style and bringing a big time groove to your weekend. Keep your ears peeled for some beatbox battles.
Fliptrix
Hailing from South East London, Fliptrix has been creating a storm since 2007 following the release of his debut solo album ‘Force Fed Imagery’, bringing intelligent, streetwise lyrics, high-energy delivery and a myriad of original and distinctive flows on every track. A succession of scene-stealing features later, Fliptrix cemented his place as one of the most inventive in the UK following the release of his second solo album ‘Theory of Rhyme’ in early 2010.
Dirty Dike
Full time Contact Play spokesperson and SMB chief executive, Mr Dirty Dike has been a rap merchant since the days when a ten deck of B&H cost £1.32 and Noel Edmonds was still bezzie mates with Mr Blobby. You might find him kicking bars in your kitchen; if he’s not doing that you might find him kicking bars in your garden shed; if he’s not doing that you may find him painting a huge mural of a f**kwalrus on the side of your house – he’s nice like that. Expect verses of wizadry when he brings his live show to Nozstock.
3 Amigos
The 3 Amigos are a 3 man hip hop crew made up of producer Naive, and 2 MCs L.Lyricist & Bva. The group are Dented Records newest additions and have been working together and performing all over the UK for around 4 years. They hold some of the best production in the UK fused with some of the realest, tightest lyrics around, bringing you a raw and original hip hop sound. This is appropriately described by their extended group’s name of Real Life Drama.
Leaf
A very big name in the underground UK Hip Hop scene right now, with his album dropping recently and getting top reviews from all over.Leafdog has been dabbling with wordplay for the best part of ten years. One third of underground heroes The 3 Amigos and beat maker to the stars.
Flash Harry
Flash Harry is the main SIKA DJ, one of the most versatile DJs out there Harry has been smashing sets in single and mashing up multiple genres across the country on a regular basis for years. He will be all around you at Nozstock…
Kopeius
Kopeius’ production has been described as stimulating and distinct, fusing the modern deep basslines with traditional dub vibes into his own unique sound. But, it is doubtlessly his live performances that have had the greatest reception. Kopeius has an inimitable connection with the crowd that is unlike any other DJ. Fuelled by his limitless energy and magnetic charisma, his performances leave the masses screaming for more.
Influx
Influx is a 24-year-old emcee based in Brighton/Southampton UK. He has been putting in work smashing shows from the UK to foreign shores for some time now.
Far from your average hip hop artist, Influx takes influence from a variety of genres and matches metaphorical wordplay with intelligent concepts. Inspired by travelling the world, dreams, reality and everything in between, Influx writes songs to equally inspired beats.
Mooch London
:virgin Nozstockers, will be breaking away from the normal Eastend sounds of Shoreditch. Since its inception in January 2009 Mooch has consistently been rated as the only place to spend your Saturday night in Shoreditch by Time Out Magazine and Mixmag. These 3 resident DJs/co-promoters Natalie Coleman, Ed Jones and Samantha Blackburn will be dishing up their very own groove orientated and dubby brand of Tech-House. Prolific to the enth, these guys are professionals at working a crowd.
Nat Coleman
Over the past year or so Nat’s name has been on the flyer of almost every London party worth its salt. Influenced by heavyweights such as Luciano, Queen Maxine and Loco Dice her unique style of driving minimal house, blended with playful techno has seen her rock packed out floors. Adding to this a slot at Booka Shade’s Album Launch, Jaded and regular appearances for Genius, HouseFM and other London underground parties, she has cemented her place as one of London’s rapidly rising stars.
Ed Jones
Ed’s resident sets @ Mooch, have only served to enhance his reputation for laying down sets that keep the punters on their toes with an edgy, groove orientated and dubby brand of Tech-House crafted from a broad musical history. With big plans for Mooch and his 2011 diary already getting blocked out its set to be another vintage year for the former country boy from Hereford.
Samantha [Get Diverted]
With resident slots on Deep Vibes and Image Radio and a recent debut on Ibiza Global Radio, London based DJ and South African Native: Samantha is one of the most promising female DJs around right now. Get prepared for this deep tech tribal house with a splash of Minimal…
